PMC Will Start Collecting Property Tax From 23 New Merged Villages

From the financial year starting 1st April 2022, the Pune Municipal Corporation will be levying property tax on residents of the 23 newly merged villages. This list of villages includes areas like Mhalunge, Bavdhan Budruk, Sus, Narhe, Kirkatwadi, Nanded, New Kopre, Pisoli, Khadakwasla, Wagholi, Nandoshi, Manjari Budruk and Mantarwadi, to name a few.

According to calculations made by the PMC officials, the civic body will be able to collect approximately 100 crores as property tax from these newly formed areas. The corporation intends to charge only 20% of tax for the fiscal year 2022-23. This percentage will then slowly rise to 100%, in a phased manner, by the year 2026. Up until now, since these villages fell under the local gram panchayats, the taxes were charged accordingly.

However, the decision of the PMC to start collecting property taxes is leaving the residents of the newly merged areas upset. Many of them are complaining about the lack of basic amenities such as good roads, continuous water supply, garbage disposal facilities and proper drainage system.

Property tax pune corporation is levied by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on properties within its jurisdiction. The property tax is calculated based on the area and type of property, and it is an annual tax payable by property owners. Recently, there may have been updates or changes in the property tax in pune rules & regulations , so it is advisable to refer to the latest information from the PMC or local authorities regarding any new property tax rules or revisions. It is also important to note that property tax rates and charges can vary based on factors such as property type, location, and usage. For specific details about property tax rates and charges in Pune, it is recommended to contact the Pune Municipal Corporation or visit their official website for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

With the financial year looming right round the corner and with several complaints piling up against the city corporation, only time will tell if the PMC manages to provide the residents the basic amenities they deserve.
