Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who made a visit to Hinjewadi on Sunday, instructed the authorities to take all steps required in solving the problem of waterlogging and public concerns and traffic troubles faced by locals and IT professionals.

Acting on the orders, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) administration stated that it would carry out a huge anti-encroachment drive from July 17 to relieve the traffic snarl faced by commuters.

The deputy chief minister first went around the Croma Metro station area, where IT professionals had complained about traffic jams, after reaching Hinjewadi at six in the morning.

The deputy CM requested the officials to act promptly in the case to relax the traffic situation. He ordered officials to build new roads and speed up the ongoing road construction.

He instructed PMRDA and police authorities to be firm against those who cause hindrances in the construction of roads by jailing them. "Don't listen to anyone. File cases under Section 353… Those who cause hindrances should be jailed. TDR will be given to the people whose land is being seized. Whatever is possible, we will do," Pawar explained.

Once inspected by him, the streams and nullahs on which such encroachments had occurred, Pawar ordered their removal at once.

The deputy CM announced that two agencies would be designated to investigate the problem.

We have taken the decision to hire two agencies in this respect. To bring back the nullahs and streams to their natural environment, one of the agencies has been asked to make a report. Illegal constructions on these streams and nullahs disturbed the natural runoff of rainwater. Our intention is to see that there is no inundation even during rains," he stated.

Pawar went on to say that stop-work notices must be given if permits have been granted for construction on streams and nullahs.

"At least at five locations, water flow is impacted as constructions have appeared on streams. These buildings ought to be taken down. On the stream, one of the gram panchayats has decided to build a vegetable market. We have requested them to halt its work," he said.

Pawar also met with PMRDA along with other civic and traffic officials.

While speaking after meeting senior officials at the PRMDA office, Ajit Pawar stated that there is a routine traffic snarl at Laxmi Chowk.

I gave the authorities instructions to create a flyover that resembles Nigdi's Bhakti Shakti Chowk.

The road has been excavated near Croma Metro. I have instructed the Tata company to fix the road. IT people complained that the excavated road was leading to jams. There are also some underpasses, which are causing inconvenience. I have instructed officials to investigate.

"I will inspect personally the works done in the Hinjewadi region," the deputy CM said.

"Every seven to ten days, I will be checking on the work. Some are long-term, and some are short-term," he stated. Whether it is road widening, building new roads, new pipeline laying, storm water drain improvement, building footpaths... some are short-term, and "some are long-term, and some are short-term," he stated.

In a social media update, Pawar stated, "Today, I visited several development works and local issues concerning Pune Metro Line 3 at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, in the Hinjewadi area of Pune. This included inspection of the work at Station No. 6, Croma, Station Nos. 2 and 3, Laxmi Chowk, Maan Road, Maan Village, Helipad Circle, and other places." I discussed with the officials issues like traffic congestion, road conditions, and waterlogging during rainy seasons. I gave the officials the order to act right away.

PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase stated that they would start the anti-encroachment drive at Hinjewadi on July 17.

"PMRDA has planned some new roads in Hinjewadi. We will be releasing tenders for these roads," Mhase said.

Ajit Pawar's trip to Hinjewadi followed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's instruction to install a single-point authority to solve problems in Hinjewadi.

The increased emphasis on infrastructure will likely exert a beneficial impact on real estate prices and residential demand in Hinjewadi and surrounding localities. As Pune Realty continues to attract steady attention from both investors and residential buyers, such stimuli are imperative to maintaining this trend.
