Lodha Developers inks MoU with Fadnavis govt to build Rs 30,000 cr worth of data center parks.

Lodha Developers on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra government for the establishment of a data center park in Palava. The MoU stipulates that the total planned investment would be of Rs 30,000 crores from Lodha and other data center players in this park.

This tie-up comes on the heels of the state government's approval for the Green Integrated Data Centre Parks in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in the last year. One of the state's top realty players, Lodha will act as a developer for various players interested in establishing data centers.

The agreement signed states that the whole proposed investment would be of Rs 30,000 crores and generate 6,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. With a proposed capacity of 2 GW, the park is laid out to accommodate more than one major international as well as domestic player.

In an effort to make data centers flourish in the state, the Government of Maharashtra launched the Green Integrated Data Center Parks policy last October. According to this policy, data centers, which are heavy electricity consumers, will be energized with green and alternative sources of energy. Three parks will initially be established under the program in the MMR region.

Upon signing the pact with the state government, Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO, Lodha Developers Ltd., stated, "We are thrilled to collaborate with the Government of Maharashtra in this innovative venture. The Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy, apart from providing employment opportunities, will not only enhance Maharashtra's & India's economy but will also run on clean and green energy sources, sparing generations."

"We are dedicated to making the Green Integrated Data Centre Park a success and eagerly await many more such collaborations with the government, all of which contribute to making India a global leader by 2047," Lodha said.

This is one of the Rs 1,08,599 crore investment deals inked by the Maharashtra government on Thursday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that these projects touch all major sectors, such as information technology, food processing, warehousing, data centers, and logistics parks.

Apart from Lodha Developers, Adani Enterprises will also make an investment of Rs 70,000 crore in an integrated coal surface gasification downstream derivatives project at Kamleshwar Linga in the Nagpur district, providing employment to 30,000 people.

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd will invest Rs 1,513 crore to establish an integrated food and beverage manufacturing unit at Katol in the Nagpur district, creating 500 jobs.

MGSA Realty is reported to invest Rs 5,000 crore in industrial warehouses, data centers, and logistics parks, creating 10,000 jobs.

Polyplex Corporation Ltd will invest Rs2,086 crore in a polymer products project at Nandurbar that will give employment to 600 individuals.

All the MoUs were signed by industry department secretary P. Anbalagan on behalf of the state government with official representatives of the participating companies, viz., Abhishek Lodha (Lodha Developers Ltd), Amarprakash Agarwal (MGSA Realty), Ketan Modi (Reliance Consumer Products Ltd), Ajit Barodia (Adani Enterprises Ltd), and Pranay Kothari (Polyplex Corporation Ltd).
