Pune, September 25, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has sanctioned eight amenity plots for parking on the ongoing Pune Metro Line 3, spanning between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar. The initiative will make travel easier for commuters after the 23-km stretch goes operational.

Officials have confirmed that PMC has allocated a total of 13,051 sq m of land in eight locations, and two more locations will be built in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) territory. The spaces were identified close to major Metro stations after a survey was carried out last year on PMRDA's request.

Three of the reserved parking spaces are in Balewadi—near Balewadi Stadium–Food Hub stop (300 metres), NICMAR–Amar Tech Park stop (250 metres) and Ramnagar, near K Square Living (400 metres). Five spaces will be in Balewadi and three in Baner, all 100–400 metres from the respective stops.

Dinkar Gojare, the project department head of PMC, said, "Total eight plots of land for Metro parking would be given by PMC. The estate and management department is completing the list and would hand over the land to PMRDA post commissioner's approval.

Parking land has thus far been acquired merely on three of Metro Line 3's 23 stations—Maan, Balewadi, and Shivajinagar. Through PMC allocation, facilities will also be planned for Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ramnagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, and Baner stations.

The Metro Line 3, constructed by Tata Group company Trill Urban Transport Pvt Ltd (TUTPL) and Siemens, is almost 45% ready. But land acquisition delays have pushed its deadline to March 2026.
