There is some good news emerging from the Pune Metro. The PMRDA has stated that 95 percent of the construction work on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 is likely to be finished by December.

Pune News In Hindi: Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is looking to finish 95% of the work on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 by December and stated that the whole line will be open for use by March 2026.

90% of work on 23-kilometer-long elevated corridor will be finished by September, officials said. "We should have most of the work finished by December," said a senior PMRDA official. Trial runs are already on and would be increased in the next few months.

Operations are set to be commenced in March 2026. Trial runs have already been done on a 10-km stretch, and station construction, signalling and testing are underway.

Demand to initiate partial operations
This 23-km-long elevated corridor will link the city's IT hub (Hinjewadi) with Shivajinagar. The work is being carried out by Tata Group's TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH consortium under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. IT professionals are calling for authorities to begin partial operations despite advancements in the trial run. Forum for IT Employees (FITE) has sent a letter to PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase requesting an immediate opening of operations between Baner section and Hinjewadi Phase 3 to offer immediate relief to the people.
